Existing Challenges & Future Perspectives 


New Towns Development Corporation (NTDC) is progressing towards achieving its objective of developing new tows, in line with the mandate laid down in the New Towns Act, passed by the Islamic Consultative Assembly, in January 2002, the enforcement code of the said law passed by the cabinet of Ministers in August 2003, and the provisions of NTSC's articles of association passed by the Cabinet of Ministers in September 2003. So far, eighteen affiliated companies have been established for development of 18 New Towns in ten provinces. Population has begun to settle in these new towns since 1995. The total population of new towns currently amounts to 350 thousand.

NTDC Objectives:

a) Implementation of the national physical plan and proportionate distribution of population andemployment on the national level, in keeping with strategic goals and limited water, soil and energy resources.

b) Development of housing for newly established economic activities.

c) Development of suitable sites for settlement of the inhabitants of the cities that suffer fro environmental problems.

d) Assisting the implementation of housing development projects and balancing the housing market.
