What can happen in Iran? Iran is ideally suited, sitting on second largest gas reserve of the world to provide raw materials. In Iran it is established or reestablished is to reckon venture and alliances, something in my opinion must be done on the legislative frame but as far as I have been told this is under consideration.

SABIC believes it is possible that cooperative arrangements with Iranian producers could lead to future mutual benefits. Such efforts could take a variety of forms, and a number of different ideas could be considered.

... If a position is going to be sustained, it has to sustain over 20 or 30 years and therefore the feedstock advantages have to be advantages that can sustain through all these various changes that may be out there. And I think of the countries around the world that I’ve looked at, Iran is uniquely positioned in terms of those advantages.

One observes certain warmth between my country, South Africa, and Iran. I think this warmth has got something to do with the social political development of both countries. So, I think this is entirely appropriate that a South Africa company is working hard to develop post-ties with NPC.

We have enjoyed what we have done here for the last three years. We believe that the country is going to have a bright future. There is more business to come and we intend to extend this list as the opportunity arises.

Interesting times are ahead of us and would like to take the opportunity to express our pride to be involved as the leading polyolefins company in the world, here in Iran, in building the leading edge, modern, low cost feedstock based petrochemical industry created by NPC.

Kazuhisa Marukawa
Senior Executive Director, JBIC

I have been most favorably impressed by the exceptional organization of the Forum and by the remarkable quality of the presentations. Owing to the Iranian Petrochemical Forum I have met high-ranking personnel of the National Iranian Oil Company.

Iran’s petrochemical sector holds significant business opportunities, and I believe that it is one of the most important sectors that will assume a key role in developing further economic cooperation between Iran and Japan. As an official financial institution of Japan, we very much look forward to contributing to the development of Iran’s petrochemical sector by providing financial assistance where it is needed, and to building stronger ties with Iran.

Iran benefited from the fact that they had created strong organizations dealing with hydrocarbon and petrochemical matters and they had a large number of scientists and technologists able to develop start , and operate new projects-by themselves.

I am very much impressed by the gathering of high-ranking people coming from all over the world and the high level of discussions and presentations made at the forum. I think it is a very important event not only for Iran but also for the petrochemical industry at large.

Jereon van der Veer

President of Royal Dutch Petroleum Company & Vice- Chairman of the Committee of Managing Directors of Royal Dutch/ Shell of Group Companies

IPF 2002

In petrochemicals, Iran has demonstrated its ability to develop, structure and manage major high value adding projects and shows an impressive track record of increasing exports in both value and volume. Shell is very pleased to be working towards the development of a major petrochemicals complex with NPC in the B.I.K. Petrochemical Zone and a world-class GTL project in Assaluyeh.
