Introduction

International relations have undergone dramatic changes in the past few years. Developments taking place in the Middle East top the agenda of all players.

Developments in Iran have far-reaching implications for the region and have attracted the world's attention.

In this environment, strategic planning and decision making have become challenging for corporations, yet the rewards and yields from investing in Iran motivate businesses to remain interested in opportunities that Iran present.

This is time to listen, discuss and network with experts, officials and decision makers of Iran and the Middle East in the fields of economy and politics. The conference intends to offer discussion and debate on both Economic and Political developments in Iran and Middle East in order to provide a meaningful and comprehensive perception of the current situation.

A special conference has been organized by Ravand Institute for Economic & International Studies (RIEIS) in order to create a forum to discuss present opportunities and challenges in Iran, to have a better understanding of the environment, and to facilitate the decision- making process.

It is the opinion of the RIEIS that Economics and Politics are two intertwined elements in the process of development as well as in securing any role in the international scene. Therefore this gathering will offer both Economic and Political panels. We hope that through this combination of Perspectives, we will be able to depict a more realistic picture of developments.

The discussion will focus on the driving forces of Iran's Economic & Political approaches while examining three possible answers, namely the intention of Iran to gain its Economic & Political role in international community, the need to be assured of its security, and the desire to develop partnership.
